Tulips!

We finally made it to the tulip festival in Mt. Vernon after 20 years of Washington residency.  We had a blast, and so did the kids.  Now if only I can find time to process all the photos...

Score.

Sometimes you have a funny conversation with a strange old woman at Value Village about the impracticality of adult sized pantsuits with zippers in the back. Then you find some super nice dishes. Score.

First.

Today we went to the Marchival Carnival at Sam's school.  He had his face painted for the first time (it was an Angry Bird), did better at games than I expected, ate a ridiculous donut covered in sprinkes, and became absolutely covered in glitter from one of his prizes, a sparkly silver glitter bowler hat.  He was very happy.

Crayon.

There is crayon in the dryer.  I know this is not an insurmountable problem, but I kind of want to cry about it.  I see scrubbing and WD-40 and soap and water and possibly Comet and a toothbrush in my future, and I don't like it!

Spoiled.

It seems like maybe milk got spilled in the back seat of the car.  It smells like stale farts, and I don't know how to get it out.  Someone suggested vinegar, that seems like it might work.  I hope it does, because it stinks.

Pro choice.

Today I accidentally watched 30 minutes with of a "documentary" that compared being pro choice to being a Nazi. First I felt sick because it talked about the holocaust. Then I felt sick with anger that the comparison was made and someone was using Hitler killing 11 million people to promote their pro life agenda.

Weekend.

This weekend was really not great. In fact, I don't think it deserves the title of weekend at all. TGIM!

WTF?

Started watching The Daily Show and Colbert again today. Love it. Am currently trying not to scream after hearing that Mitt Romney's combined income last year was 43 MILLION DOLLARS. That is more per day than we make in a year. barf!!

Sleep.

Sometimes it is hard to fall asleep when the sounds of the house keep your brain from shutting off. Less than 7 hours until the alarm goes off and I lie awake thinking of you and feeling sad and helpless.

School!

Sam was finally back to school today after a full week off due to snow.  It was nice to be out and about with just Danny, not worrying about anything.  We went for a nice walk with my Mom, sister & her fiance.  Tomorrow I get the day off, and I can't wait.

Bedtime.

Last night when I was putting Sam to bed we were cuddling and he burped right in my face then cracked up for about 3 minutes. Tonight he freaked out because.he spilled water on himself.  Then we read Curious George books and he wore his giant Miami Vice shirt and fell asleep pretty quick. He is a challenge one moment and a delight the next.

Juxtaposition.

Today was a beautiful day.  The sky was brilliant blue and clear, and Mt. Baker was crisp and sharp in the distance.  It was bright and light, but my mind spent a good part of the day in the dark, thinking about the Kors family.  Tonight I pray for peace & comfort for them.

Tragedy.

A 5th grade boy from Sam's school dies tonight after a terrible accident. He was well known I'm our community for hos performances at the Farmer's Market and other places. I can't stop thinking about his family. Time to pray.

2012

A new Year, a new start to one thought a day. Today: I wish I had slept more last night and will probably pass out early putting one of the kids to bed tonight.
